DEX CAKES & EVENTS — TERMS & CONDITIONS

 

Thank you for choosing Dex Cakes & Events. Please read the following Terms & Conditions carefully before placing your order. By confirming your booking or making payment, you agree to the terms outlined below.


1. BOOKINGS & PAYMENTS
1.1 Your initial deposit serves as a booking fee, which secures your event date and is non-refundable.

1.2 Orders are held for 24 hours after the invoice is issued. If no payment is received within this time, the order will be considered cancelled.

1.3 We accept both full payment and a 50% deposit; however, all remaining balances (including delivery fees) must be paid at least 48 hours before delivery or collection.

1.4 All payments must be made via EFT. Cash deposits or Cash Send payments are accepted with an additional R50 handling fee. Please use your invoice number as the payment reference.

1.5 Last-minute orders (placed within 5 days of the event date) must be paid in full upfront and are non-refundable.

 


2. DESIGNS & CREATIVE STYLE


2.1 We do not copy and paste designs. Your reference image will be used as inspiration, allowing us to create a unique cake that reflects our signature style.

2.2 The date of your final payment is the final date for any changes to size, style, or flavour. Any changes made after this point cannot be guaranteed and may incur additional charges.


 

3. COLLECTIONS, DELIVERIES & SETUP

3.1 Collections: Clients are welcome to collect their orders in person. Once collected, all responsibility for the condition of the cake transfers to the client. Please ensure the cake is transported on a flat surface in an air-conditioned vehicle.

3.2 Pick-Up Times: We only offer two pick-up windows:

  • Morning: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  • Evening: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM

When selecting your preferred pick-up time, please ensure you arrive within the chosen window. Late arrivals may result in:

  • Rescheduling of the pick-up (subject to availability), or
  • Additional fees if the cake requires special handling outside the scheduled window.

3.3 Deliveries: To ensure your cake arrives safely and in perfect condition, all deliveries are handled exclusively by Dex Cakes & Events — we do not use Uber or third-party couriers.

3.4 Setup: Tiered and large cakes include a setup fee for on-site arrangement —ensuring your cake looks perfect and stays secure during delivery(This is optional). Our delivery fee reflects the care, handling, and safe transport required for custom cakes.

3.5 Our driver will wait at the gate or entrance for 10 minutes. If no one is available to receive the order, delivery will need to be rescheduled at the client’s cost, or you may opt to collect your cake.

3.6 We are not liable for any damage to cakes after setup or once they have left our possession.

3.7 Please ensure a sturdy, level table and a cool environment (23°C or below) for displaying your cake.

 


4. FLOWERS & DECOR

4.1 If flowers are provided by an outside source, we can place them for an additional fee.

4.2 Please note that fresh flowers are not food products and may contain pesticides, insects, dirt, or other contaminants.

 


5. ALLERGENS

Our products may contain or come into contact with milk, eggs, wheat, nuts, soy, or other allergens.

It is the client’s responsibility to inform guests of potential allergens. Dex Cakes & Events cannot be held liable for any allergic reactions.

 


6. REFUNDS & RETURNS

6.1 Due to the custom and perishable nature of our cakes, refunds are only considered in cases where:

A clear error was made by our team, or

  • The final product does not match the confirmed order details provided by the client.

6.2 Refunds will not be issued for:

  • Changes of mind after confirmation,
  • Incorrect details provided by the client, or
  • Personal taste preferences.

6.3 Once an order is confirmed, no refunds will be issued unless the above exceptions apply.

6.4 In cases where a genuine error occurs on our part, we may offer a partial refund, full refund, or replacement, depending on the situation.



7. RESCHEDULING & CANCELLATIONS

7.1 To reschedule, please notify us at least 72 hours (3 days) in advance.

7.2 Weddings or fully custom cakes require a minimum of 5 days’ notice for any rescheduling requests, as they involve more detailed planning and preparation.

7.3 Deposits may be carried over to a new date, subject to availability.

7.4 Orders cancelled after confirmation will result in a forfeited deposit.

 

8. RESPECT & CONDUCT POLICY

 

At Dex Cakes & Events, we are committed to professionalism and respectful communication.

We treat our clients with courtesy and expect the same in return.

Any form of disrespect, harassment, abusive language, or defamatory remarks directed towards our brand, staff, or representatives will not be tolerated.

In such cases, we reserve the right to:

  • Refuse service,
  • Cancel current or future orders, and
  • Terminate communication without refund.

We maintain clear communication records to ensure fairness and transparency at all times.

 

9. LIABILITY & FORCE MAJEURE

Once the cake has been collected or delivered, Dex Cakes & Events is not responsible for any damage caused by mishandling, transport, or environmental conditions.

Performance of this agreement is contingent upon circumstances beyond our control, including but not limited to accidents, illness, natural disasters, or other unforeseen events.


10. AGREEMENT

 

By placing an order or making payment, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.
